Shocking Truths Revealed! Discover The Hidden Hazards Of Poorly Installed Electric Gates Before It's Too Late

Did you know that a staggering 80% of electric gate accidents are caused by incorrect installation? That’s right, the simple act of not hiring a qualified professional to install your electric gate can lead to a multitude of dangerous situations.

From malfunctioning sensors that pose safety risks to faulty wiring that can result in electrical hazards, the dangers are very real.

Not only that, but improperly installed electric gates also leave your property vulnerable to break-ins, compromising your security. The potential damage to your property and the costly repairs that may follow are additional concerns to consider.

To ensure the safety and security of your home, it is crucial to hire qualified professionals who have the expertise to install and maintain electric gates correctly.

In this article, we will explore the various dangers associated with incorrectly installed electric gates and emphasize the importance of entrusting this task to professionals.

Key Takeaways

  • Proper installation by qualified professionals ensures optimal function and safety of electric gates.
  • Access to high-quality materials and equipment by qualified professionals minimizes breakdowns and repairs.
  • Adherence to safety regulations by qualified professionals prevents accidents and protects people and property.
  • Hiring qualified professionals for installation and maintenance of electric gates provides long-term protection for property and peace of mind.

Malfunctioning Sensors and Safety Risks

Malfunctioning sensors in improperly installed electric gates pose significant safety risks. When the sensors fail to detect objects or people in the gate’s path, it can result in accidents and injuries. These safety risks are especially concerning in residential areas where children and pets may be present.

Malfunctioning sensors can lead to gate closures at inappropriate times, causing vehicles or pedestrians to be trapped between the gate panels. This can result in serious injuries and property damage. In other cases, the sensors may not detect obstacles, leading to the gate closing on objects or individuals. This can cause crushing injuries or even fatalities.

Furthermore, malfunctioning sensors can also lead to false detections, causing the gate to open and close unexpectedly. This can create confusion and increase the risk of accidents. For example, a gate opening unexpectedly while a vehicle is passing through can result in collisions or damage to the vehicle.

It is crucial to have properly functioning sensors in electric gates to ensure the safety of users and prevent accidents.

In the next section, we will discuss the dangers of faulty wiring and electrical hazards associated with incorrectly installed electric gates.

Faulty Wiring and Electrical Hazards

Improper wiring and electrical hazards pose a significant risk when it comes to electric gate installations, with a shocking 70% of gate-related accidents attributed to faulty electrical systems. To fully understand the dangers associated with faulty wiring, it is crucial to explore the potential fire hazards and electrocution risks that can arise from these installations.

  1. Fire Hazards: Faulty wiring can lead to electrical sparks and overheating, increasing the risk of fires. Without proper installation and maintenance, the electrical components within the gate system can become a source of ignition, putting your property and loved ones at great risk.

  2. Electrocution Risks: A faulty electrical system can expose individuals to the danger of electric shock. Electrocution can occur if there is direct contact with live wires or if insulation is compromised. This poses a significant threat to both residents and visitors, jeopardizing their safety and well-being.

  3. Property Damage: In addition to the risks of fire and electrocution, faulty wiring can cause damage to your property. Electrical malfunctions can lead to power surges, damaging not only the gate system itself but also other connected electronics and appliances.

  4. Increased Liability: Negligence in maintaining and repairing faulty wiring can lead to legal complications. As a property owner, you have a responsibility to ensure the safety of those who enter your premises. Failing to address electrical hazards can result in costly lawsuits and damage to your reputation.

By understanding the potential dangers of faulty wiring and electrical hazards, you can take steps to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your property. However, it’s important to recognize that there are additional security vulnerabilities and an increased risk of break-ins associated with incorrectly installed electric gates.

Security Vulnerabilities and Increased Risk of Break-Ins

To ensure your peace of mind, it’s important to be aware of the security vulnerabilities and increased risk of break-ins associated with electric gates. While electric gates provide convenience and enhanced security, they can also be susceptible to security breaches if not installed correctly.

One of the main vulnerabilities is compromised access control. If the gate’s access control system is not properly set up, unauthorized individuals may gain entry, putting your property and belongings at risk.

A faulty installation can lead to various security vulnerabilities. For instance, if the gate’s control panel is not securely mounted or if the wiring is exposed, it becomes easier for potential intruders to tamper with the system. Additionally, if the gate’s locks or sensors are not functioning properly, it may provide an opportunity for burglars to gain access to your property unnoticed.

Compromised access control can also result from inadequate security measures such as weak passwords or outdated software. These vulnerabilities can be exploited by hackers, allowing them to bypass the gate’s security features and gain unauthorized entry.

It is crucial to ensure that your electric gate is installed by a qualified professional who understands the intricacies of security systems. By doing so, you can mitigate the risk of security breaches and protect your property from break-ins.

Inadequate installation of electric gates not only poses security risks but also leads to damage to property and costly repairs.

Damage to Property and Costly Repairs

If you neglect the necessary precautions, you could find yourself facing extensive property damage and significant financial burdens. Inadequate maintenance and reduced lifespan are two major consequences of incorrectly installed electric gates.

When gates are not properly maintained, they are more susceptible to wear and tear, leading to potential malfunctions and breakdowns. This can cause damage to your property, such as scratches or dents on your gates and fences, or even structural damage if the gates collapse. Not only will you have to bear the cost of repairs, but you might also have to deal with legal implications and liability issues if someone gets injured due to the faulty gates.

In addition to the physical damage, there are also financial implications associated with incorrectly installed electric gates. The lifespan of the gates can be significantly reduced if they are not installed and maintained correctly. This means that you will have to replace your gates sooner than expected, which can be a costly endeavor. Furthermore, if your gates malfunction and cause damage to someone else’s property or injure someone, you may be held legally responsible for the damages.

To avoid these dangers and protect your property and finances, it is crucial to hire qualified professionals for the installation and maintenance of your electric gates. By doing so, you can ensure that your gates are installed correctly, regularly inspected, and well-maintained, reducing the risk of damage and costly repairs.

Transitioning into the subsequent section, it is essential to understand the importance of hiring professionals who possess the necessary expertise and knowledge to ensure the safety and effectiveness of your electric gates.

Importance of Hiring Qualified Professionals for Installation and Maintenance

Don’t risk your property and finances by entrusting the installation and maintenance of your electric gates to anyone other than qualified professionals. Hiring experts in the field ensures that your gates are installed correctly and maintained to the highest standards, minimizing the risks and dangers associated with incorrectly installed electric gates.

Here are four reasons why it is crucial to hire qualified professionals for the installation and maintenance of your electric gates:

  2. Compliance with safety regulations and standards: Qualified professionals are well-versed in the safety regulations and standards that govern the installation and maintenance of electric gates. They will ensure that your gates meet all the necessary requirements, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.

  3. Advanced technical skills: Installing and maintaining electric gates requires specialized technical skills. Qualified professionals have the training and experience to handle complex wiring, programming, and troubleshooting tasks, guaranteeing that your gates function optimally and safely.

  4. Access to quality materials and equipment: Qualified professionals have access to high-quality materials and equipment, ensuring that your electric gates are built to last. They will use reliable and durable components, reducing the likelihood of breakdowns and the need for frequent repairs.

By hiring qualified professionals, you can have peace of mind knowing that your electric gates are in capable hands. Their expertise, adherence to safety regulations, and commitment to proper maintenance will help protect your property and finances in the long run.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the dangers of incorrectly installed electric gates should not be taken lightly. The malfunctioning sensors and faulty wiring pose significant safety risks, putting both individuals and property at risk.

Moreover, the security vulnerabilities increase the likelihood of break-ins, leaving you exposed to potential threats. Not only that, but the damage to your property can result in costly repairs.

The service and the work that was done was exceptional. We needed to replace three very old (and very heavy) garage doors in a home that was built in 1960. There were a number of challenges along the way and each one was met professionally and in a timely manner. Lisa was an excellent communicator and highly responsive. Kevin did an extraordinary job with a fairly involved installation. His 'can do' attitude was very refreshing and reassuring. As noted, the final result was terrific. The pricing was VERY reasonable and very fair. The install was completed two days ago and I have already received compliments from the neighbors!

On Oct. 31 my electric gate stopped working and I called Alpha Gate and Door and talked to Lisa. She was great and based on my symptoms said she thought it was the battery and she would send Kealan out the next day. He came and replaced the battery with a 12 v 55ah battery. I asked him to rehang my reflector light on my neighbors new fence so the motion sensor would work. It had worked fine prior to that being taken down. He did that and it worked for a minute and then stopped. He rewired it and it worked once and he left. The next day I noticed the sensor was not working but I didn’t really care because my dog is too small to trigger it. I was charged $448 -$169 for the service call, $249 for the battery and $30 to rewire the sensor. I work exclusively from home as an attorney and never even use the gate during the week. A few weeks later the gate stopped operation completely and I called on Dec. 6. Lisa said she would send Kealan out. He called me and I said the gate would not open at all, the sensor was not working and the sensor was making a nonstop buzzing noise. He arrived fairly late in the day and I saw him pull into my driveway but he did not come to my door and went straight to the gate. I immediately went out there and I saw when he opened the cover that the battery charger lights were not on. He was in a very bad mood and starting ripping the battery out and said I needed a new battery. I said I guess it was because the battery charger wasn’t plugged in. I was not mad about it because that can happen to anyone. He got really mad at that point, I guess because I knew what had happened. He demanded to know whether I had unplugged it, grabbed a huge battery that would not even fit in my unit, then declared the charger had “allegedly” not been plugged in. As he was trying to force the battery in and was slamming everything around, I asked him if he had a smaller battery. He said no, it was whomever installed my gate opener’s fault because the antenna was on the left and they were usually on the right. He continued to try to force it but could not get the cover on. So he gave up and said he would come back Monday with a smaller battery. I assumed the sensor was not working because the battery had died. I heard nothing from anyone the following Monday and had had it so I called Lisa and yelled and told her the way Kealan had behaved and when was the battery actually going to be installed. She said she would talk to Kealan and I said do you have anybody else who is not a jackass who could come instead. She said she would investigate and call me back. She never called me back and apparently the next day around lunch Kealan snuck onto my property, did not tell me he was there, and put in another battery and texted me the gate was now working. I went outside to try it and the remote was not working at all. I have programmed remotes many times (I have done a lot of products liability work and handled cases with complex machinery failures and deposed a lot of engineers so I am not unfamiliar with this type of equipment) and checked it and the receiver was getting the signal from the transmitter but the control board was not opening the gate.So I called Lisa, explained he had come but not told me he was there, and that the remote was not opening the gate. I also apologized for yelling at her the day before because it was not her fault. She said she would tell him. After that call I remembered there is a reset button on the Patriot control board so I went out and pushed it and that caused the remote to work so I called Lisa and said it was working. The new battery is smaller than the one he had originally put in and retails for about $95. The motion sensor still does not work, I have done jumping jacks in front of of it to know avail. I am not bothering to call again about that because Kealan would probably get really mad again. He does NOT like his competence put into question. You decide if $249 is a fair markup on a $95 battery.

I highly recommend Alpha Gate & Door Company! The entire process was incredibly quick and professional! I spoke with Lisa (she’s amazing and extremely knowledgeable) on Tuesday and she came out Wednesday with a recommendation to replace the gate opener that was faulty and couldn’t handle the weight of my gate. Keelan was just as courteous and professional as Lisa and did an amazing job! The install was perfect and pristine! I’ve tried working with other companies and honestly they are hands down the best!
