Imagine transforming your outdoor space into a secure and stylish haven with a beautiful aluminum fence. Whether you’re looking to create a safe play area for your children or enhance the curb appeal of your home, installing aluminum fencing is a worthwhile investment.

In this article, we will guide you through the step-by-step installation process, from preparing the site to adding gates and accessories.

Get ready to embark on a journey of creating a secure and stunning outdoor space that you can truly call your own.

Key Takeaways

  • Site preparation is crucial for a successful installation, including clearing debris, leveling the area, and removing obstructions.
  • Properly setting and leveling the posts is essential, involving mixing and pouring concrete, aligning and leveling the posts, and allowing the concrete to fully cure.
  • Inserting and leveling the posts accurately ensures straight and plumb posts, which are secured with braces or clamps.
  • Installing the panels involves measuring and determining post spacing, digging holes, filling them with concrete, and attaching the panels, ensuring proper alignment and levelness.

Site Preparation

Now, you’ll need to clear any debris and level the area where the aluminum fencing will be installed. Start by grading the site to ensure a smooth and even surface. Remove any rocks, roots, or other obstructions that may interfere with the installation process. It’s important to have a clean and well-prepared area to work with.

Next, clear any vegetation that may be in the way. Trim back any overhanging branches or bushes that could potentially interfere with the fence installation. This will create a clear path for the fence panels and make the overall installation process easier.

Once the site is graded and clear of vegetation, you’re ready to move on to the next step: setting the posts. This is a crucial part of the installation process as it provides the foundation for the entire fence. Take your time to ensure that the posts are set at the correct height and distance apart. This will ensure a sturdy and secure fence that will stand the test of time.

By properly preparing the site and clearing any obstacles, you’ll be on your way to a successful installation. Now, let’s talk about setting the posts.

Setting the Posts

To begin setting the posts for your aluminum fencing, you’ll need to mix and pour concrete for each post hole. Make sure to follow the recommended concrete-to-water ratio for the best results.

Once the concrete is ready, insert the posts into the holes and level them using a level tool. After aligning and leveling all the posts, allow the concrete to cure fully before moving on to the next step in the installation process.

Mix and pour concrete for each post hole

First, you’ll need to mix and pour concrete for each post hole. Start by preparing the post holes, ensuring they are deep enough and wide enough to securely hold the posts. Once the holes are ready, it’s time to mix the concrete. Follow the instructions on the concrete mix bag, adding water and mixing until you achieve a smooth, workable consistency.

Carefully pour the concrete into each post hole, making sure it fills the hole completely. Use a level to ensure the posts are straight and plumb while the concrete is still wet. Allow the concrete to dry and cure according to the manufacturer’s instructions before moving on to the next step.

With the posts securely set in the concrete, you’re ready to move on to the next section: inserting and leveling the posts.

Insert and level the posts

Once the concrete has dried and cured, it’s time to insert and level the posts.

Post leveling techniques are crucial to ensure a sturdy and even fence. Start by using a post installation tool, such as a post level or a string level, to ensure that each post is perfectly vertical. Adjust the post as needed, adding or removing soil until it is level. Be sure to check the level from different angles to ensure accuracy.

Once the posts are level, secure them in place with braces or clamps to prevent them from moving during the next step. This will ensure that your fence remains straight and secure.

With the posts inserted and properly leveled, you can now move on to the next section about ‘allowing the concrete to cure’, which is essential for the overall strength and stability of your aluminum fence.

Allow the concrete to cure

After the concrete has dried and cured, it’s important to allow it to fully cure before proceeding with the next steps. The curing duration may vary depending on the specific product used, but it typically takes around 24 to 48 hours for the concrete to reach its full strength.

During this time, it’s crucial to avoid placing any weight or stress on the posts to ensure they set properly. There are different curing methods that can be used, such as covering the concrete with a plastic sheet or using a curing compound. These methods help retain moisture and promote a slower, more controlled curing process.

Once the concrete has fully cured, you can move on to installing the panels, which will be discussed in the next section about ‘installing the panels.’

Installing the Panels

To install the panels, you’ll need to ensure that the fence posts are set at the correct intervals. Start by using measuring tools to determine the spacing between the posts. This will ensure that the panels fit properly and provide a secure barrier for your property.

Once you have the correct measurements, dig holes for the fence posts at the designated intervals. Make sure the holes are deep enough to provide stability for the posts.

Next, place the posts in the holes and fill them with concrete. Use a level to ensure that the posts are straight and aligned properly. Allow the concrete to cure according to the manufacturer’s instructions before continuing with the installation.

Once the posts are set, it’s time to install the panels. Start by attaching one end of a panel to the first post using screws or brackets. Make sure the panel is level and aligned with the post. Then, attach the other end of the panel to the next post, again ensuring proper alignment and levelness. Repeat this process for each panel until the fence is complete.

In the next section, we will discuss adding gates and accessories to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of your aluminum fence.

Adding Gates and Accessories

Now that you have successfully installed the panels, it’s time to move on to the next step in the installation process for your aluminum fencing: adding gates and accessories. This is where you can truly customize your fence and make it your own.

To start, gather all the necessary gate hardware, including hinges and latches. These components are essential for ensuring the functionality and security of your gate. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully to install the hinges and latch securely.

Once the gate is installed, you can enhance the aesthetic appeal of your fence by adding decorative accents. These can include finials, post caps, or even ornamental scrolls. These small details can make a big difference in the overall look of your fence.

In addition to the decorative accents, you may also want to consider adding other accessories such as solar lights or address plaques. These can not only improve the functionality of your fence but also add a personal touch to your property.

With the gates and accessories in place, your aluminum fence is almost complete. In the next section, we will discuss the final touches and maintenance to ensure that your fence remains in top condition. So let’s move on to the next step and give your fence those finishing touches.

Final Touches and Maintenance

Once the gates and accessories are in place, it’s important to focus on the final touches and maintenance to ensure the longevity and appearance of your fence. To achieve a polished look, consider using finishing techniques such as painting or powder coating. These methods not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of your aluminum fence but also provide an additional layer of protection against the elements.

Regular maintenance is crucial for the long-term care of your fence. Inspect the fence periodically for any signs of damage or wear, such as loose screws or rust spots. Replace any damaged components promptly to prevent further deterioration. Cleaning the fence regularly with mild soap and water will help remove dirt and grime that can accumulate over time.

To keep your fence looking its best, it’s recommended to apply a protective sealant every few years. This will help safeguard the aluminum from fading, chipping, and peeling, ensuring its durability and beauty for years to come.

In conclusion, paying attention to the final touches and maintenance of your aluminum fence is essential for its longevity and appearance. By utilizing finishing techniques and implementing a regular care routine, you can enjoy a well-maintained fence that adds charm and security to your property.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You’ve successfully completed the installation process for aluminum fencing. By following the steps outlined in this article, you’ve created a strong and durable barrier. This fence not only enhances the security of your property but also adds aesthetic appeal.

Remember to regularly maintain your fence to ensure its longevity and functionality. With your new aluminum fencing in place, you can now enjoy peace of mind and a beautiful addition to your property.

Well done!

The service and the work that was done was exceptional. We needed to replace three very old (and very heavy) garage doors in a home that was built in 1960. There were a number of challenges along the way and each one was met professionally and in a timely manner. Lisa was an excellent communicator and highly responsive. Kevin did an extraordinary job with a fairly involved installation. His 'can do' attitude was very refreshing and reassuring. As noted, the final result was terrific. The pricing was VERY reasonable and very fair. The install was completed two days ago and I have already received compliments from the neighbors!

On Oct. 31 my electric gate stopped working and I called Alpha Gate and Door and talked to Lisa. She was great and based on my symptoms said she thought it was the battery and she would send Kealan out the next day. He came and replaced the battery with a 12 v 55ah battery. I asked him to rehang my reflector light on my neighbors new fence so the motion sensor would work. It had worked fine prior to that being taken down. He did that and it worked for a minute and then stopped. He rewired it and it worked once and he left. The next day I noticed the sensor was not working but I didn’t really care because my dog is too small to trigger it. I was charged $448 -$169 for the service call, $249 for the battery and $30 to rewire the sensor. I work exclusively from home as an attorney and never even use the gate during the week. A few weeks later the gate stopped operation completely and I called on Dec. 6. Lisa said she would send Kealan out. He called me and I said the gate would not open at all, the sensor was not working and the sensor was making a nonstop buzzing noise. He arrived fairly late in the day and I saw him pull into my driveway but he did not come to my door and went straight to the gate. I immediately went out there and I saw when he opened the cover that the battery charger lights were not on. He was in a very bad mood and starting ripping the battery out and said I needed a new battery. I said I guess it was because the battery charger wasn’t plugged in. I was not mad about it because that can happen to anyone. He got really mad at that point, I guess because I knew what had happened. He demanded to know whether I had unplugged it, grabbed a huge battery that would not even fit in my unit, then declared the charger had “allegedly” not been plugged in. As he was trying to force the battery in and was slamming everything around, I asked him if he had a smaller battery. He said no, it was whomever installed my gate opener’s fault because the antenna was on the left and they were usually on the right. He continued to try to force it but could not get the cover on. So he gave up and said he would come back Monday with a smaller battery. I assumed the sensor was not working because the battery had died. I heard nothing from anyone the following Monday and had had it so I called Lisa and yelled and told her the way Kealan had behaved and when was the battery actually going to be installed. She said she would talk to Kealan and I said do you have anybody else who is not a jackass who could come instead. She said she would investigate and call me back. She never called me back and apparently the next day around lunch Kealan snuck onto my property, did not tell me he was there, and put in another battery and texted me the gate was now working. I went outside to try it and the remote was not working at all. I have programmed remotes many times (I have done a lot of products liability work and handled cases with complex machinery failures and deposed a lot of engineers so I am not unfamiliar with this type of equipment) and checked it and the receiver was getting the signal from the transmitter but the control board was not opening the gate.So I called Lisa, explained he had come but not told me he was there, and that the remote was not opening the gate. I also apologized for yelling at her the day before because it was not her fault. She said she would tell him. After that call I remembered there is a reset button on the Patriot control board so I went out and pushed it and that caused the remote to work so I called Lisa and said it was working. The new battery is smaller than the one he had originally put in and retails for about $95. The motion sensor still does not work, I have done jumping jacks in front of of it to know avail. I am not bothering to call again about that because Kealan would probably get really mad again. He does NOT like his competence put into question. You decide if $249 is a fair markup on a $95 battery.

I highly recommend Alpha Gate & Door Company! The entire process was incredibly quick and professional! I spoke with Lisa (she’s amazing and extremely knowledgeable) on Tuesday and she came out Wednesday with a recommendation to replace the gate opener that was faulty and couldn’t handle the weight of my gate. I received the reasonable quote the same day and their technician, Keelan, was at my house on Friday of the SAME WEEK to install. Keelan was just as courteous and professional as Lisa and did an amazing job! The install was perfect and pristine! I’ve tried working with other companies and honestly they are hands down the best! If there were 10 stars available, I would give them 10!Thank you Alpha team!
