Discover How Custom Fencing Can Effectively Protect Your Property From Wildlife Intruders. Learn The Secrets To Keeping Your Space Secure And Wildlife-Friendly

Looking to create a safe and secure environment for the wildlife on your property? Custom fencing is the solution you’ve been searching for. With the right type of fencing, you can effectively control and protect against potential threats.

From identifying the wildlife that pose a risk to choosing the perfect custom fence, this article will guide you through the process step-by-step.

Don’t wait any longer – take action now and provide a home where wildlife can thrive while also ensuring your own peace of mind.

Key Takeaways

  • Understanding wildlife threats and damage is crucial in implementing effective wildlife conservation efforts.
  • Choosing the right custom fence, including considering height and material, is essential for wildlife control.
  • Fence height and material should be carefully selected to prevent animals from jumping over or climbing under the fence.
  • Additional features such as electric fencing can provide a cost-effective and safe solution for wildlife control.

Identify the Wildlife Threats to Your Property

Before you can effectively address the wildlife threats to your property, you need to identify them. By understanding the specific wildlife conservation efforts and the impact of wildlife on property value, you can take the necessary steps to protect your investment.

Wildlife conservation efforts play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystem. However, certain species can pose challenges when they encroach upon your property. Common wildlife threats include deer, rabbits, raccoons, and even birds. These animals can cause damage to your landscaping, gardens, and structures, leading to a decrease in property value.

Deer, for example, are known for their voracious appetite for vegetation. If left unchecked, they can destroy your carefully cultivated plants and flowers. Rabbits, on the other hand, can wreak havoc on your lawn, leaving unsightly patches of bare ground. Raccoons and birds can cause damage to your property by tearing apart insulation, damaging roofs, and even creating nests in hard-to-reach areas.

To transition into the subsequent section about choosing the right type of custom fencing, it is important to understand the significance of identifying these threats. Once you know what wildlife species are causing problems, you can select the appropriate custom fencing solution to effectively deter them and protect your property.

Choose the Right Type of Custom Fencing

When choosing the right type of custom fencing for your property, it is crucial to consider the height and material of the fence.

A taller fence can deter intruders and provide added security, while durable materials like steel or aluminum can withstand harsh weather conditions and ensure long-lasting protection.

Additionally, adding features like electric fencing or barbed wire can further enhance the effectiveness of your fence and act as an extra deterrent against potential threats.

Consider the Height and Material of the Fence

To effectively control wildlife, consider the height and material of the fence.

The height of the fence is crucial in preventing animals from jumping over or climbing under it. Research shows that a fence height of at least 8 feet is recommended to deter larger animals like deer or coyotes. However, for smaller creatures like rabbits or groundhogs, a fence height of 2 to 3 feet may suffice.

Equally important is the choice of fence material. Opt for sturdy materials like chain link or welded wire, as they offer durability and resistance against wildlife. These materials also provide a clear view of the surrounding area, allowing you to monitor any potential threats.

Add Additional Features like Electric Fencing or Barbed Wire

For even greater security, you can enhance your fence by adding features like electric fencing or barbed wire.

Electric fencing offers several benefits for wildlife control. It delivers a mild electric shock to deter animals and is highly effective in preventing them from breaching the fence. The shock is safe for animals and humans, but it teaches wildlife to avoid the area altogether. Electric fences can be easily installed and maintained, making them a cost-effective solution.

On the other hand, while barbed wire is a common choice for perimeter fencing, it has some disadvantages. It can cause injury to animals, potentially harming them or even leading to their death. Additionally, barbed wire can be less visually appealing and may not provide sufficient security against agile or determined animals.

Now that you know the additional features, let’s move on to installing the custom fence properly.

Install the Custom Fence Properly

It’s important to properly install the custom fence for effective wildlife control. By following proper installation techniques, you can ensure that your fence serves its purpose and keeps unwanted animals out.

One common mistake is not digging the fence posts deep enough. A shallow post can easily be pushed over or burrowed under by determined wildlife. Make sure to dig the holes at least two feet deep and use concrete to secure the posts firmly in place.

Another mistake to avoid is not properly securing the bottom of the fence. Animals can easily squeeze through small gaps or dig under a loose fence. Use hardware cloth or chicken wire to create a barrier at the bottom, preventing any access.

Additionally, ensure that the fence is installed tightly and securely. This will prevent any gaps or weak spots that animals can exploit.

By taking the time to properly install your custom fence, you can create a strong and effective barrier against wildlife.

Now that your fence is installed, it’s important to maintain and inspect it regularly to ensure its continued effectiveness.

Maintain and Inspect the Fence Regularly

To ensure the effectiveness of your wildlife control fence, it is crucial that you regularly maintain and inspect it.

One key aspect of maintenance is trimming the vegetation near the fence. Overgrown vegetation can provide a ladder for animals to climb over the fence, compromising its purpose.

Additionally, it is important to check for any damage or weaknesses in the fence, such as loose wires or broken posts, as these can create entry points for unwanted wildlife.

Trim Vegetation Near the Fence

We can’t forget to trim the vegetation near the fence to ensure proper wildlife control. Vegetation management is a crucial aspect of fence maintenance that often gets overlooked. Here’s why it matters:

  • Increased visibility: Trimming the vegetation near the fence improves visibility for both you and wildlife. It reduces the chances of animals finding a way to sneak past the fence undetected.

  • Prevents damage: Overgrown vegetation can pose a threat to the integrity of the fence. When branches and vines grow onto the fence, they can weaken it over time, making it easier for animals to break through.

  • Minimizes hiding spots: By keeping the area around the fence clear, you eliminate potential hiding spots for wildlife. This makes it easier to spot any intruders and take necessary action.

Check for Any Damage or Weaknesses

Now that you’ve trimmed the vegetation near your fence to deter wildlife, it’s important to check for any damage or weaknesses in your fence.

Regular inspections can help prevent unwanted intrusions and keep your property secure. Wildlife, such as raccoons or deer, can be persistent in finding ways to access your property.

Look for signs of wear and tear, like loose boards or broken wires, and promptly repair them. Reinforcing weak areas with additional support or materials can further protect your property from potential damage.

By taking the time to inspect and reinforce your fence, you’ll create a strong barrier that will discourage wildlife from entering your space.

To ensure long-term success in wildlife control, it’s also important to consider additional measures to deter wildlife from your property.

Consider Additional Wildlife Control Measures

Are you tired of dealing with wildlife intrusions on your property? There are effective measures you can take to prevent these unwanted visitors.

One option is to use repellents or deterrents, such as sprays or noise devices, that can discourage wildlife from coming near your property.

Additionally, implementing habitat modification techniques, such as removing food sources or creating barriers, can make your property less appealing to wildlife.

Use Repellents or Deterrents

To protect your property from wildlife, you can use repellents or deterrents. Both options have their pros and cons.

Repellents work by creating a scent or taste that animals find unpleasant, effectively keeping them away. They are easy to use and can be applied directly to the areas you want to protect. However, repellents need to be reapplied regularly and may not be effective against all species.

On the other hand, deterrents use physical barriers or devices to scare away wildlife. They can be more long-lasting and effective, but may require more effort to install and maintain.

Ultimately, the choice between repellents and deterrents depends on your specific needs and preferences.

Once you have addressed this aspect of wildlife control, you can move on to implementing habitat modification techniques to further protect your property.

Implement Habitat Modification Techniques

You can start by assessing your property and making changes to the landscape to discourage wildlife from residing there. Here are three habitat modification techniques that can enhance your property and provide natural pest control:

  1. Plant native vegetation: By planting native plants, you provide a natural food source for local wildlife. This encourages them to stay in their natural habitat rather than seeking food in your garden or home.

  2. Create water sources: Installing bird baths or small ponds can attract birds and beneficial insects. These creatures help control pests by feeding on them or competing for resources, reducing the need for harmful pesticides.

  3. Build shelters: Providing nesting boxes, bat houses, or rock piles can offer wildlife safe spaces to live. These shelters promote biodiversity and create a balanced ecosystem that naturally keeps pests under control.

Conclusion

In conclusion, by investing in custom fencing for wildlife control, you can protect your property and prevent potential damage caused by wildlife threats.

With the right type of fence installed properly, you create a barrier that not only keeps wildlife out but also ensures the safety and tranquility of your surroundings.

Regular maintenance and inspections will guarantee the effectiveness of the fence in the long run.

Consider additional wildlife control measures to reinforce your defense.

Safeguard your property, create a peaceful sanctuary, and let nature harmonize with your space.

The service and the work that was done was exceptional. We needed to replace three very old (and very heavy) garage doors in a home that was built in 1960. There were a number of challenges along the way and each one was met professionally and in a timely manner. Lisa was an excellent communicator and highly responsive. Kevin did an extraordinary job with a fairly involved installation. His 'can do' attitude was very refreshing and reassuring. As noted, the final result was terrific. The pricing was VERY reasonable and very fair. The install was completed two days ago and I have already received compliments from the neighbors!

On Oct. 31 my electric gate stopped working and I called Alpha Gate and Door and talked to Lisa. She was great and based on my symptoms said she thought it was the battery and she would send Kealan out the next day. He came and replaced the battery with a 12 v 55ah battery. I asked him to rehang my reflector light on my neighbors new fence so the motion sensor would work. It had worked fine prior to that being taken down. He did that and it worked for a minute and then stopped. He rewired it and it worked once and he left. The next day I noticed the sensor was not working but I didn’t really care because my dog is too small to trigger it. I was charged $448 -$169 for the service call, $249 for the battery and $30 to rewire the sensor. I work exclusively from home as an attorney and never even use the gate during the week. A few weeks later the gate stopped operation completely and I called on Dec. 6. Lisa said she would send Kealan out. He called me and I said the gate would not open at all, the sensor was not working and the sensor was making a nonstop buzzing noise. He arrived fairly late in the day and I saw him pull into my driveway but he did not come to my door and went straight to the gate. I immediately went out there and I saw when he opened the cover that the battery charger lights were not on. He was in a very bad mood and starting ripping the battery out and said I needed a new battery. I said I guess it was because the battery charger wasn’t plugged in. I was not mad about it because that can happen to anyone. He got really mad at that point, I guess because I knew what had happened. He demanded to know whether I had unplugged it, grabbed a huge battery that would not even fit in my unit, then declared the charger had “allegedly” not been plugged in. As he was trying to force the battery in and was slamming everything around, I asked him if he had a smaller battery. He said no, it was whomever installed my gate opener’s fault because the antenna was on the left and they were usually on the right. He continued to try to force it but could not get the cover on. So he gave up and said he would come back Monday with a smaller battery. I assumed the sensor was not working because the battery had died. I heard nothing from anyone the following Monday and had had it so I called Lisa and yelled and told her the way Kealan had behaved and when was the battery actually going to be installed. She said she would talk to Kealan and I said do you have anybody else who is not a jackass who could come instead. She said she would investigate and call me back. She never called me back and apparently the next day around lunch Kealan snuck onto my property, did not tell me he was there, and put in another battery and texted me the gate was now working. I went outside to try it and the remote was not working at all. I have programmed remotes many times (I have done a lot of products liability work and handled cases with complex machinery failures and deposed a lot of engineers so I am not unfamiliar with this type of equipment) and checked it and the receiver was getting the signal from the transmitter but the control board was not opening the gate.So I called Lisa, explained he had come but not told me he was there, and that the remote was not opening the gate. I also apologized for yelling at her the day before because it was not her fault. She said she would tell him. After that call I remembered there is a reset button on the Patriot control board so I went out and pushed it and that caused the remote to work so I called Lisa and said it was working. The new battery is smaller than the one he had originally put in and retails for about $95. The motion sensor still does not work, I have done jumping jacks in front of of it to know avail. I am not bothering to call again about that because Kealan would probably get really mad again. He does NOT like his competence put into question. You decide if $249 is a fair markup on a $95 battery.

I highly recommend Alpha Gate & Door Company! The entire process was incredibly quick and professional! I spoke with Lisa (she’s amazing and extremely knowledgeable) on Tuesday and she came out Wednesday with a recommendation to replace the gate opener that was faulty and couldn’t handle the weight of my gate. I received the reasonable quote the same day and their technician, Keelan, was at my house on Friday of the SAME WEEK to install. Keelan was just as courteous and professional as Lisa and did an amazing job! The install was perfect and pristine! I’ve tried working with other companies and honestly they are hands down the best! If there were 10 stars available, I would give them 10!

Alpha Gate & Door recently replaced our 3-gate system thats used by over 250 residents and visitors on a daily basis.

Terry was excellent in guiding us from the first visit to the final inspection, including his experiences on what to expect and where any likely issues would occur. With a large property, that was critical to avoiding problems that could pop up.

The crews, clean up and invoicing were all done professionally.

We would strongly recommend Alpha Gate & Door for your gate access needs.
