Join us on this journey to a safer and more secure home.

Key Takeaways

  • Regular maintenance and inspections are important to ensure proper functioning of residential access control systems in all weather conditions.
  • Weather conditions can have a significant impact on the performance of access control systems, including system malfunctions and damage to system components.
  • Proper maintenance and inspections can help prevent weather-related issues and ensure reliable and secure functioning of the system during rain, snow, and other weather conditions.
  • Regular maintenance extends the lifespan of access control systems, prevents premature system failure, and saves costs of frequent repairs or replacements.

Impact of Extreme Temperatures

Extreme temperatures can cause malfunctions in residential access control systems. When the mercury drops, the effects of snow and ice can wreak havoc on these vital security systems. The frigid temperatures can freeze the delicate components, leading to reduced functionality or complete failure.

Imagine coming home after a long day, only to find that your access control system is unresponsive, leaving you vulnerable and locked out. On the other hand, extreme heat and humidity can also take a toll on these systems. Excessive moisture in the air can cause electrical components to short circuit, rendering your access control system useless.

Don’t let the weather dictate your security. Take proactive measures to safeguard your home by choosing a weather-resistant access control system that can withstand the harshest conditions. By investing in a system designed to combat extreme temperatures, you can ensure uninterrupted access to your home and protect what matters most to you.

Now, let’s explore the challenges posed by heavy rainfall and how it can impact residential access control systems.

Challenges of Heavy Rainfall

Are you aware of the potential dangers heavy rainfall can pose to your residential access control systems?

Water damage and system malfunctions can occur when heavy rainfall seeps into the delicate components of your system, causing costly repairs and disruptions to your security.

Furthermore, the potential for short circuits and electrical failures increases when water comes into contact with electrical connections, putting your entire system at risk.

Water damage and system malfunctions

Water damage can often lead to malfunctions in residential access control systems. Don’t let water infiltrate your system and cause unnecessary headaches. Take action now to prevent potential issues caused by water, snow, and ice.

Here are three things you can do to protect your access control system:

  • Install weatherproof enclosures: Shield your system from the elements by using durable, waterproof enclosures. This will provide an extra layer of protection against water damage.

  • Regularly inspect and maintain: Be proactive and inspect your system regularly for any signs of water damage. Ensure that all seals are intact and functioning properly to prevent water infiltration.

  • Clear snow and ice: Don’t let snow and ice accumulate around your access control system. Clear it away promptly to avoid any potential damage caused by melting or freezing.

By taking these steps, you can prevent water damage and maintain the functionality of your residential access control system.

However, water damage is not the only threat. Let’s now explore the potential for short circuits and electrical failures that can arise from weather conditions.

Potential for short circuits and electrical failures

Don’t let the potential for short circuits and electrical failures go unnoticed due to weather conditions. When it comes to your residential access control systems, safety should always be a priority.

The truth is, weather can wreak havoc on your electrical systems, leading to potential fire hazards and dangerous situations. But fear not, because there are electrical safety measures you can take to protect your home and loved ones.

Ensure that your electrical connections are properly insulated and regularly checked for any signs of wear and tear. Invest in surge protectors to safeguard your systems from power surges caused by lightning strikes or power outages.

By taking these precautions, you can minimize the risk of short circuits and electrical failures, keeping your home safe and secure.

Now, let’s discuss how to deal with strong winds without compromising your access control systems.

Dealing with Strong Winds

During strong winds, it’s important to secure residential access control systems to prevent damage. Hurricanes and other severe weather conditions can wreak havoc on your home, but there are measures you can take to ensure your access control system remains intact. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Reinforce your access control system: Bolster the structure holding your system in place to withstand high winds. Use sturdy materials and consider installing additional supports to keep it steady during storms.

  2. Protect vulnerable components: Shield sensitive parts of your access control system, such as keypads and sensors, from the elements. Utilize weatherproof covers or enclosures to prevent water damage and debris from causing malfunctions.

  3. Regular maintenance: Keep your system in top shape by performing routine inspections and maintenance. Check for loose connections, damaged wiring, or any signs of wear and tear. Addressing any issues promptly will help maintain the system’s functionality and durability.

By implementing these wind resistance measures, you can safeguard your residential access control system from the damaging effects of strong winds.

However, ensuring system durability goes beyond just wind resistance. It also involves other crucial aspects such as power surges and system updates.

Ensuring System Durability

Don’t let unpredictable weather conditions compromise the security of your access control devices. It’s time to weatherproof and protect your investments.

Weatherproofing access control devices

Weatherproofing access control devices is essential to ensure their proper functioning in various weather conditions. By implementing effective weatherproofing techniques and utilizing weather-resistant materials, you can protect your access control devices from the harsh elements and extend their lifespan.

Weatherproofing not only safeguards the devices from rain, snow, and extreme temperatures, but it also prevents moisture and dust from entering and causing damage. Imagine the peace of mind you’ll have knowing that your access control system is built to withstand the harshest weather conditions.

With weatherproofing, you won’t have to worry about disruptions in your security system due to weather-related issues. So, when choosing materials and designs that can withstand various weather conditions, make sure to prioritize weatherproofing to ensure the longevity and reliability of your access control devices.

Choosing materials and designs that can withstand various weather conditions

When selecting materials and designs, you’ll want to prioritize weather resistance to ensure your access control devices can withstand various weather conditions. Here are three reasons why this is crucial:

  • Weather-resistant materials save you money in the long run by reducing the need for frequent replacements and repairs. Don’t let unpredictable weather drain your wallet!

  • Sunlight exposure can have a significant impact on the functionality of your access control system. By choosing weather-resistant materials, you can prevent damage caused by UV rays and ensure your system operates smoothly.

  • Investing in weather-resistant materials and designs gives you peace of mind knowing that your access control devices are built to last. Feel confident that your system will withstand rain, snow, and extreme temperatures, keeping your home secure.

Now that you understand the importance of weather resistance, let’s move on to the next section about maintenance and regular inspections. It’s essential to keep your access control system in top shape for optimal performance.

Maintenance and Regular Inspections

You should regularly inspect and maintain your residential access control systems to ensure they are functioning properly in various weather conditions. Weather can be unpredictable, and the last thing you want is to be locked out of your own home because your access control system failed.

By establishing regular maintenance schedules and investing in professional inspections, you can have peace of mind knowing that your system is reliable and secure.

Regular maintenance is crucial to the longevity and performance of your access control system. Just like any other technology, these systems require attention and care to remain in optimal condition. By following a maintenance schedule, you can identify and address any potential issues before they become major problems. This proactive approach not only saves you time and money in the long run, but it also ensures that your system continues to function effectively, regardless of the weather conditions.

Professional inspections are equally important. While you may be able to perform basic maintenance tasks yourself, having a trained expert assess your system can provide invaluable insights. Professionals have the knowledge and experience to identify any underlying issues that may not be immediately apparent. They can also make recommendations for improvements or upgrades that can enhance the performance and security of your access control system.

Don’t wait for a weather-related malfunction to disrupt your sense of security. Take the necessary steps to maintain and inspect your residential access control systems regularly. By doing so, you can ensure that your system is functioning properly and providing the peace of mind you deserve.

Conclusion

In conclusion, when it comes to protecting your home, don’t let the weather rain on your parade. Extreme temperatures, heavy rainfall, and strong winds may try to break through your residential access control systems, but fear not!

With proper maintenance and regular inspections, your system can weather any storm and stand strong like a fortress. So, don’t leave your security to chance. Take action today and ensure the durability of your access control system.

Keep the storms at bay and enjoy peace of mind like a sunny day at the beach.

The service and the work that was done was exceptional. We needed to replace three very old (and very heavy) garage doors in a home that was built in 1960. There were a number of challenges along the way and each one was met professionally and in a timely manner. Lisa was an excellent communicator and highly responsive. Kevin did an extraordinary job with a fairly involved installation. His 'can do' attitude was very refreshing and reassuring. As noted, the final result was terrific. The pricing was VERY reasonable and very fair. The install was completed two days ago and I have already received compliments from the neighbors!

On Oct. 31 my electric gate stopped working and I called Alpha Gate and Door and talked to Lisa. She was great and based on my symptoms said she thought it was the battery and she would send Kealan out the next day. He came and replaced the battery with a 12 v 55ah battery. I asked him to rehang my reflector light on my neighbors new fence so the motion sensor would work. It had worked fine prior to that being taken down. He did that and it worked for a minute and then stopped. He rewired it and it worked once and he left. The next day I noticed the sensor was not working but I didn’t really care because my dog is too small to trigger it. I was charged $448 -$169 for the service call, $249 for the battery and $30 to rewire the sensor. I work exclusively from home as an attorney and never even use the gate during the week. A few weeks later the gate stopped operation completely and I called on Dec. 6. Lisa said she would send Kealan out. He called me and I said the gate would not open at all, the sensor was not working and the sensor was making a nonstop buzzing noise. He arrived fairly late in the day and I saw him pull into my driveway but he did not come to my door and went straight to the gate. I immediately went out there and I saw when he opened the cover that the battery charger lights were not on. He was in a very bad mood and starting ripping the battery out and said I needed a new battery. I said I guess it was because the battery charger wasn’t plugged in. I was not mad about it because that can happen to anyone. He got really mad at that point, I guess because I knew what had happened. He demanded to know whether I had unplugged it, grabbed a huge battery that would not even fit in my unit, then declared the charger had “allegedly” not been plugged in. As he was trying to force the battery in and was slamming everything around, I asked him if he had a smaller battery. He said no, it was whomever installed my gate opener’s fault because the antenna was on the left and they were usually on the right. He continued to try to force it but could not get the cover on. So he gave up and said he would come back Monday with a smaller battery. I assumed the sensor was not working because the battery had died. I heard nothing from anyone the following Monday and had had it so I called Lisa and yelled and told her the way Kealan had behaved and when was the battery actually going to be installed. She said she would talk to Kealan and I said do you have anybody else who is not a jackass who could come instead. She said she would investigate and call me back. She never called me back and apparently the next day around lunch Kealan snuck onto my property, did not tell me he was there, and put in another battery and texted me the gate was now working. I went outside to try it and the remote was not working at all. I have programmed remotes many times (I have done a lot of products liability work and handled cases with complex machinery failures and deposed a lot of engineers so I am not unfamiliar with this type of equipment) and checked it and the receiver was getting the signal from the transmitter but the control board was not opening the gate.So I called Lisa, explained he had come but not told me he was there, and that the remote was not opening the gate. I also apologized for yelling at her the day before because it was not her fault. She said she would tell him. After that call I remembered there is a reset button on the Patriot control board so I went out and pushed it and that caused the remote to work so I called Lisa and said it was working. The new battery is smaller than the one he had originally put in and retails for about $95. The motion sensor still does not work, I have done jumping jacks in front of of it to know avail. I am not bothering to call again about that because Kealan would probably get really mad again. He does NOT like his competence put into question. You decide if $249 is a fair markup on a $95 battery.

I highly recommend Alpha Gate & Door Company! The entire process was incredibly quick and professional! I spoke with Lisa (she’s amazing and extremely knowledgeable) on Tuesday and she came out Wednesday with a recommendation to replace the gate opener that was faulty and couldn’t handle the weight of my gate. I received the reasonable quote the same day and their technician, Keelan, was at my house on Friday of the SAME WEEK to install. Keelan was just as courteous and professional as Lisa and did an amazing job! The install was perfect and pristine! I’ve tried working with other companies and honestly they are hands down the best! If there were 10 stars available, I would give them 10!

Alpha Gate & Door recently replaced our 3-gate system thats used by over 250 residents and visitors on a daily basis.

Terry was excellent in guiding us from the first visit to the final inspection, including his experiences on what to expect and where any likely issues would occur. With a large property, that was critical to avoiding problems that could pop up.

The crews, clean up and invoicing were all done professionally.

We would strongly recommend Alpha Gate & Door for your gate access needs.
